Description: This mathematics elective will introduce students to important mathematical topics not included under the umbrella of algebra. This year long course will focus on real world applications for topics that include logic, election theory, fair division, graph theory, recursion, combinatorics, and probability. Course curriculum will be presented in a variety of ways including discovery learning, learning with technology, group work, projects, collaborative learning, and interactive instruction.
Hello! My name is Mr. Eric Potter. This will be my 26th year teaching, all at Mahomet-Seymour High School, and I'm looking forward to a great year!
Teaching philosophy: I believe that all students are capable of success in Math. However, some may take more time to process and practice in order to be successful. I believe that students can optimize learning in an environment that promotes cooperative learning, individual accountability, and critical thinking skills. We will accomplish this through development of the 8 mathematical practices and the common core content standards. We will specifically emphasize explanation and the development of critical thinking skills in my classroom.
