The Pizza Oven

During the summer of 2017, Food, Farm, and Society students constructed a Quebec-style clay oven with the help of community partner Joseph Kiefer. Summer students enjoyed the first pizzas on the last day of the program. Teachers and students made 33 pizzas for the Race Against Racism in September, and the oven was used to make all the bread for the 2017 Fall Harvest Celebration.

Students tie the alder frame.

The fire burns away the wood frame leaving the clay shell.
