Suicide Awareness Month
Millard South High School recognizes September as Suicide Awareness Month. In order to promote awareness, the district requires the schools to complete a "child find" to see if any students have concerns regarding depression or suicide. During these weeks of September 10th-14th and 17th-21st, PRIDE Time teachers will pass out a hotline card and show a short video on the signs of depression and suicide. The students will then complete the MPS CARES questionnaire that asks students if they know someone or are personally experiencing thoughts of suicide or depression. The questionnaire will be collected and evaluated by the counseling center staff. Rest assured if there is any need for parent contact after this activity, a counselor will follow up with the parents. Millard South cares about each of our students! If you would like to opt your student out of this activity, contact the Counseling Office at 402-715-8432 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you for your support of this activity.
