From the Principal...
We are in the final quarter of the school year and time is flying by. Just a few things to note for today: Report cards will be coming home in Friday folders and 5th grade students will also be bringing home the Middle School Handbook. 5th grade parents, you should be receiving a course request sheet from your child's middle school. Please complete the course request sheet and return it to Rohwer by April 19th, so we can help your child register for their 6th grade electives.
Our 5th grade students have been learning ballroom dancing over the last 10 weeks. Their culminating performance will be on Friday, April 5th. Mrs. Trull and Mr. Nelson's students will be performing at 1:30 pm and Mrs. Stenger and Mrs. Loberg's students will be performing at 2:45 pm.
We will be welcoming our incoming Kindergarten students on Friday, May 3rd for Kindergarten Round Up. There will be no school for current Kindergarten students on this day.
Our 3rd-5th grade students are in testing season and will be taking the NSCAS state assessments. They have worked hard all year and this is their opportunity to shine and demonstrate all the knowledge they have gained during the school year.
Field Day/School Picnic
Our Field Day/School Picnic is schedule for Friday, May 17th. We will have our picnic rain or shine, and we hope for beautiful weather. Feel free to bring a blanket or lawn chair to sit on, we'll be eating on the playground.
We are revamping our picnic portion of the day. Please read carefully for all the details.
Everyone is welcome to join us and guests will need to provide their own lunches. If your student is eating a school lunch, they will have the choice of turkey/cheese sub, ham/cheese sub, or sunbutter/jelly sandwich and will meet you outside with their sack lunch. If you are bringing a lunch for your student, they will go directly outside to meet you.

PTO Post It
This spring we will be participating in Rohwer's Inaugural FUN RUN! This event kicks off with a "Pep Rally" during school on April17th. The students then have nine days to gather pledges from their neighbors, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends, etc! The best part about this program is that regardless of funds raised, EVERY STUDENT participates and receives prizes! The second best part (or, maybe this is your favorite part!) all pledges and donations are done ONLINE! You do not have to worry about collecting money from anyone! Full details and instructions on how to gather pledges will come home with your student(s) on April 17, 2019.
As you may be aware, we were short of our PTO Fundraising goal this fall. We are adding this Fun Run as an additional way to raise money and to guarantee our Rohwer Rockets continue to receive all of the benefits and activities our PTO provides. The Fun Run gives us an opportunity to raise a lot of money and to solicit donations from a broader demographic. This year's goal is to raise $25,000, with our push goal being $30,000! Mrs. Burton has agreed to perform many silly antics if progress and final goals are met! Your child(ren) are guaranteed to love it!
There will be daily challenges - please follow Rohwer Elementary PTO on Facebook and check the Rohwer website for daily challenge details. Students will be rewarded for participating, raising funds, reaching classroom goals, and reaching all-school goals.
Students will also experience an amazing character theme, MINDSPARK MYSTERY LAB! Boosterthon’s most exciting theme yet combines S.T.E.A.M skills (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) with character-building. While they're teaming up with the MindSpark Kids to solve mysteries, our students will learn five 21st-century character traits that will help strengthen themselves and our world. To learn more about the Fun Run and the theme this year, click on this link for a video about the program: https://vimeo.com/279380471/467a72b20f
On April 26th, the students will participate in the Fun Run. Families are invited to come cheer on your student(s). The event schedule is included below, as well as an alternative schedule in case weather requires us to move inside. We are looking for volunteers the day of the event as well. We are looking forward to this amazing event and hope you are as excited about it as we are!
