From the Principal...
It's hard to believe that February is almost here. Conferences are scheduled for Monday, February 11th and Tuesday, February 12th from 4:15 - 8:15 and Thursday, February 14th from 12:30 - 4:30. During February conferences, classroom teachers will be able to update you on your child's growth as measured by the MAP assessment as well as provide valuable information on how you can partner with your child's teacher to help your child achieve academic and social/emotional success. Please utilize Pick-a-Time to sign up for your child's conference time. Instructions for how to access Pick-a-Time are included in this newsletter.
There will be no school for students on Thursday, February 14th, Friday, February 15th, and Monday, February 18th.
Have you been looking at the clues for our One School, One Book choice? Our students have been making lots of predictions as to what they think the title of the book will be. We've adjusted our reveal date to Friday, February 8th. Look for a copy of the book to be sent home to each family on this date.
We want to thank all of our families for keeping their children home when they have been sick. It helps us prevent the spread of illness to others.
Our 5th grade students recently started to learn ballroom dancing. Arts in Motion is the organization that brings Dancing Classrooms to elementary schools. This is such an amazing program and we are very fortunate that the Rohwer PTO supports this program. Our students not only learn ballroom dancing, but they also learn to be respectful ladies and gentlemen.
Our 4th grade students participated in the Youth Frontiers Kindness Retreat. This day was full of lots of energy, laughter, and learning. Our students demonstrated kindness to others and worked on making Rohwer a school built on respect for others. Thank you to our amazing parent volunteers for being small group leaders and helping our students develop life-long skills to be successful!
