PTO Post It
Dear Amazing Rohwer Parents,
The second half of the school year is ALWAYS crazy busy and this year is no exception! We've got a LOT of information for you in this week's Post-It and also have a lot of opportunities for parental involvement. Please watch this bi-monthly newsletter from Mrs. Burton and our PTO Facebook page,www.facebook.com/rohwerpto for more details and updates.
This weather is rough, but we're going to blink our eyes and it will be warm outside and our little ones will be a little bit bigger. Time flies, especially when you're having so much fun with the Rohwer PTO!
Ann Broyhill-Schram and Erin Oberhauser
Books come home TODAY! Each week, we will read chapters together as a family and turn in questions about those chapters. Those who have turned in their questions will enter a weekly drawing for prizes! Once we've all read the book, we will celebrate at an all-school event on March 7th, 6:30 - 8:00. We'll have fun and activities that celebrate the characters, plot, and lessons from our story. Mark your calendars now, it's not an event to miss!
WATCH D.O.G.S. ® (Dads Of Great Students) is a family and community engagement educational initiative. There are 2 primary goals of the WATCH D.O.G.S. ® program.
1) To provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important.
2) To provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying.
WATCH D.O.G.S.® began in 1998 in a single school in Springdale, Arkansas and has since grown into a nationally recognized program that has brought hundreds of thousands of fathers and father figures into the school classrooms and hallways across the country, creating millions of hours of “in school” volunteer time and having a tremendously positive impact on the educational process. For more information about the program, visit https://dadsofgreatstudents.com/faqs.
We still have room on the calendar for "Dads of Great Students" who would like to spend the day at Rohwer! We ask that you sign up a week in advance so that we have time to get your daily schedule together. You can sign up here: https://signup.com/client/invitation2/secure/2421695/false#/invitation

Thank you to Brewsky's and Urban Air
We had so many Rohwer families attend our first ever Brewsky's and Urban Air night! The kids and adults all had fun bouncing (kids) and mingling (adults). You all earned the Rohwer PTO about $350.00 that will be used towards PTO programs and events. THANK YOU!
Staff Appreciation Week, March 4th - 8th
The SAW committee is off to a great start to show our Rohwer staff how much we love them! We are looking for items for prizes; for example, pre-made gift baskets or gift cards for movie theater tickets, Scentsy, car washes, etc. If you, or anyone you know has items they'd like to donate, please contact our SAW chair, Courtneay Saylan at firstname.lastname@example.org. We appreciate the help! Watch for the official Sign-Up genius for meals to come out in the next newsletter!
Rohwer Fun Run
Rohwer has an amazing school wide opportunity coming up - we are participating in our first ever, Boosterthon Fun Run!! The Fun Run is a 9-day program and will be our PTO's biggest fundraiser, taking place on April 26, 2019. Families will get pledges for the laps their student runs at the Fun Run. Many Millard elementary schools host a Fun Run, and it is a fun and easy way to make a lot of money for our school.
We will be sending more information home as the Fun Run draws nearer, but for now we are working on sponsorships. Each student will receive a t-shirt and we are looking for business sponsors. $500.00 includes your logo on the t-shirt and in the 2019-20 Rohwer Rocket Directory; $250.00 includes your logo on the t-shirt only. Space is limited to 15 sponsors, if your business is interested in being a sponsor please immediately contact Josiah and Krissie Cherry, Fun Run Committee Chairpersons, at email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you'd like to join the committee or participate the day of the run, please contact Josiah or Krissie at the addresses above.
We are collecting yarn for a school-wide art project. If you're anything like the rest of us, you probably have some lying around your house that you've been saving for.....well, for this! We are looking for any color/texture as long as it is at least 6' in length. If you've got yarn you'd like to donate, please send it to the school office, then sit back, relax, and wait for the next Rohwer masterpiece! If you have questions, please contact PTO art committee chair, Jane Buresh,email@example.com
