August 8th
Dear Rockwell Community,
We are just days away from the exciting start of a brand-new school year, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back to Rockwell!
To kick things off, we invite all families to join us for Open House on Monday evening—please see the image below for details. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet your child’s teacher, see their classroom, and ease into the year together.
The first day of school for Kindergarten through 5th grade students is Tuesday, August 12th, and Preschool will begin on Thursday, August 14th. Our incredible teachers and staff have been working tirelessly to prepare their classrooms, plan meaningful experiences, and create a welcoming environment where every student can thrive.
We are filled with excitement and anticipation for the year ahead. Thank you for being such an important part of our Rockwell family. We look forward to seeing you next week and making this a fantastic school year—together!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Malcom
Zooming to Success By Giving Our Best!
We are writing to inform you of an update to our district's mobile device policy, in alignment with recent changes in Nebraska state law (LB140), which requires all school boards to have a policy restricting student cell phone use. While our district has had a policy in place, this update serves to further clarify expectations for our students.
Starting this fall, students in elementary schools may not use mobile devices, including cell phones and smartwatches, during the school day—from the time they arrive until the end of the day. If devices are sent to school, they will be kept off and stored in backpacks or other designated areas during school hours.
This update was made following thoughtful input from parents, staff, and students and is designed to support student focus and comply with state law. We appreciate your partnership in reinforcing these expectations with your child.
If you need to reach your child during the school day, please contact the school office directly. Thank you for your continued support!
August 11th (anytime between 4:15-5:45pm). Bring your school supplies! See your classmates! Meet your teachers and classroom assignments! Find your desk! Say hello to all of us in the office!
Application is live 7/25/25. Click here for online application. Please contact the office if you need a paper copy.

Morning Drop Off:
At Rockwell we have a very active carpool and it is imperative all parents, guardians, etc follow the expectations for arrival and dismissal.
Remember there is no parking at the start of the pick up lane.
There will be orange cones out to remind parents of the no parking. Buses and Spark will run as usual on the first day.
Students will begin heading inside when the 8:15am bell rings!
If you are able to walk or carpool, this will help our morning flow.
After school Pick Up:
Preschool dismisses at 3:25 and K-5 students dismiss at 3:30
We ask that K-5 grade parents wait to pull into the Rockwell carpool lanes until all Preschool parents and buses are able to pull through the drive through.
All K-5 students will be dismissed at our regular time of 3:30.
Buses, daycare vans and SPARK will run as usual. Please be sure classroom teachers have the most up to date after school plans for your child.
It’s very important that you talk with your child/children about their after school plans each day. Please make sure they understand what they are supposed to do.
Our fifth grade students will continue to provide crosswalk coverage at each of the crosswalks. This year supervision at those crosswalks will run from 8:10-8:25am and 3:25-3:40, 2:25-2:40 (W). If your child is needing to cross before/after that time, please plan to have an adult walk them across.
