August 16th Newsletter
Hello Rockwell Community,
It was wonderful welcoming out littlest learners to the building this week. Preschool has done a great job transitioning into our building!
Please reference the Quick Links tab to see the updated menus for August. We will update these menus monthly for easy access. It is often helpful to review lunch choices with your students prior to school so they are aware exactly what they are ordering.
Below is important information regarding free and reduced meals. The application for free and reduced must be completed every year in order for families to qualify.
Sincerely,
Laura Malcom
You Are A Piece Of Our Puzzle
We ask that no animals be brought onto the school property during arrival and dismissal.
This is for the safety and security of all staff, students, and community members.
Thank you for understanding!
Coming home in your child's Friday folder is information about volunteering around Rockwell. Please take a moment to look it over and return the back sheet if you are able to volunteer.

Typical Morning Drop Off PreK-5th grade:
At Rockwell we have a very active carpool and it is imperative all parents, guardians, etc follow the expectations for arrival and dismissal.
Please full forward in the carpool lane to assist with getting as many cars as possible into the carpool lane. Staff will be outside to assist your child getting into the building and their classroom safely.
If you are able to walk or carpool, this will help our morning flow.
Remember there is no parking at the start of the pick up lane.
There will be orange cones out to remind parents of the no parking.
Students in the breakfast line will wait in a line by the front windows of the school.
Students who do not need breakfast will wait along the front grass area.
There will be signs to support students on where to stand for the first several weeks of school
Students will begin heading inside when the 8:15am bell rings!
Students will walk into the building by themselves each morning. We have multiple staff members along the hallways to guide them where they need to go.
Typical After school Pick Up:
Preschool dismisses at 3:25 and K-5 students dismiss at 3:30
All parents PreK-5th grade should follow dismissal/pick up procedures to ensure the safety and efficiency of carpool.
Please full forward in the carpool lane to assist with getting as many cars as possible into the carpool lane. Staff will be outside to assist your child getting into the building and their classroom safely.
We ask that K-5 grade parents wait to pull into the Rockwell carpool lanes until all Preschool parents and buses are able to pull through the drive through.
All K-5 students will be dismissed at our regular time of 3:30.
Buses, daycare vans and SPARK will run as usual. Please be sure classroom teachers have the most up to date after school plans for your child.
It’s very important that you talk with your child/children about their after school plans each day. Please make sure they understand what they are supposed to do.
Our fifth grade students will continue to provide crosswalk coverage at each of the crosswalks. This year supervision at those crosswalks will run from 8:10-8:25am and 3:25-3:40, 2:25-2:40 (W). If your child is needing to cross before/after that time, please plan to have an adult walk them across.
