From the Principal...

Dear Families,

The weather has finally warmed up and spring outfits are in full effect. Be sure to send jackets or hoodies in case it’s cool or windy at recess time. It also gets chilly in the building when the air conditioning kicks on. Tank top straps need to be at least one inch wide or a shirt needs to be worn over it. Shorts need to be an appropriate length. It’s a good idea to keep an extra pair of tennis shoes in students’ backpacks if they are wearing flip flops to school. Tennis shoes are needed for PE days and you’d be shocked at how many flip flops break each spring.

Enjoy the sunny weather this weekend,

Tara Fabian

Help Needed

We’re getting ready to prepare for Field Day, which will be held on May 29th. This event requires lots of volunteers. Please consider helping out! It’s a low-key event and the kids have so much fun.

Our Artist in Residence, Kristin Pluhacek, could use extra support in grade K-5 for the fourth quarter art project. There is space available for 2 volunteers per class. Please check this Sign Up Genius:

to sign-up to volunteer. Parents and grandparents welcome!

The Millard Physical Therapists are seeking donations of gently used kids bikes for use in our special education program. The bikes are used by our students throughout the year to teach bike safety, build strength, and develop a recreational life skill. Bikes can be dropped off at the schools, please label them for the building physical therapist.

Planning for next year

Each spring we begin planning for the following year. It is helpful to know how many children to expect at each grade level. We would appreciate your help in making our projections for next year as accurate as possible. We always have a few families who will be moving. If you know that your child(ren), who currently attend Reagan, will be attending another school next fall, either in Millard, or one of the area school districts or out of town, would you please call the Reagan office 402-715-7100 and let us know. Also if you know of a family that has a new incoming Kindergartner please have them contact our office. Thanks for helping us with our planning!

The Makerspace is new to Reagan and is housed in what used to be our computer lab. It is intended to provide students with hands-on, creative activities that encourage them to design, build, invent and experiment, while working collaboratively. Students may visit the Makerspace in small groups or with their whole class.

The Reagan Makerspace would love to have the following items:

* plastic containers

* lids of any size

* cardboard boxes (can be flattened)

* spools

* cardboard tubes (toilet paper, paper towel, wrapping paper)

* bubble wrap

* old CD's

* Pringles cans

* pie tins

* string or yarn

* beads

* buttons

* pipe cleaners

* paper or plastic plates/cups

* other recycled/craft items that students could use in their creations

Please send all items to the library.
