About me
Hello!
My name is Cara Shcrock, and I am the school counselor here at Norris. This is my first year as a school counselor, but I have been in the world of public education for 20+ years. My career started in Elementary Special Education. I then moved to the middle level where I taught Reading/English and Special Education. I'm so excited to begin this new adventure with all of you! Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns you think I can help with. If I'm not sure of the correct answer, I will do my best to get you to the person who can.
What does a school counselor do?
As a school counselor, I work with students to help them grow tools for academic, social, emotional, and future career success through the student mindsets and behaviors outlined in the ASCA National Model. I conduct counseling lessons in classrooms with all students several times throughout the school year, and I may work with students individually or in a small group. Any student is welcome to meet with me. My mission is to treat each student I encounter with care, to encourage, and to advocate for students as they grow into the people they were made to be.
