Millard Public Schools (MPS) is proud to participate in the Purple Star School program!  MPS is committed to serving our military families and easing their transitions as a part of our Nations fighting force.  

Each year, Nebraska serves nearly 4,000 students who have at least one parent serving in the military and the Purple Star Schools Act of 2021 recognizes the schools making a commitment to support the unique needs of military involved students and families.

To be recognized as a Purple Star School a school must:

• Designate a military liaison

• Maintain a dedicated webpage for military-connected students and families

• Maintain a military student transition program led by current students

• Provide professional development for school staff related to military-connected students

• One the following:

  • Post a School Board resolution supporting military-connected families posted on its website

  • Recognize April as the military child month or November as military family month with relevant events being held

  • Partner with local military installation to provide opportunities for service members to volunteer or otherwise be involved in the school
