Welcome Back to School at Aldrich Elementary!

July 2023

Dear Aldrich Families:

Welcome to the 2023-24 school year!  We have some new staff members to introduce to you: Mrs. Summer Hospodka will be teaching Kindergarten,  Mrs. Jill Bright will be teaching Kindergarten, Miss Vanessa Chavez Jurado will be our Spanish Teacher, Mrs. Hannah Brown will be our Orchestra Teacher, Miss Jaci Henderson will be our Speech Language Pathologist, and Mrs. Jean Tooher will be our School Psychologist.  We are excited about these great changes!!!  The Aldrich staff looks forward to a year of excellent educational success for your student.

The following information will be helpful as your family plans for the beginning of the school year…

Classroom Assignments

Classroom assignments will be posted at Open House on Tuesday, August 8th from 5:30-6:30 p.m.  Classroom assignments will be handed out once all online enrollment paperwork is complete,  so please ensure your online enrollment is complete.


Open House

On Tuesday, August 8th, between 5:30 p.m.- 6:30 p.m. we will hold our Open House for all students.  Staff greeters and guides will be at our main entrance to assist families and students.  At Open House, you will be able to do the following:  get your child’s classroom assignment, tour the school, meet teachers, bring school supplies, and explore PTO opportunities.


The First Day of School

The first day of school is Thursday, August 10th.  On the first day, students will line up on the blacktop.  Teachers will walk students into the building.  Parents are not allowed to walk their children to the classrooms.  We will have a 3:30 p.m. dismissal on the first day of school.


Communication

Weekly communication will be provided from school in a Friday folder and newsletters.  Please help us by reading this important communication each week.  Our school website is another source of information at http://aldrich.mpsomaha.org.


School Hours (NEW!)

School begins at 8:30 a.m. each day and ends at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.  School ends at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.  Please pick up your students promptly at dismissal.  


Morning Drop Off  

There is no supervision for students until 8:15 a.m.  Please do not drop your student off at school until 8:15 a.m.  Please do not exit your car.  Please simply drop off your child at the curb ready for school. Besides the first day of school, all students will enter through the front doors at arrival.


Pick Up

Students will exit the building from the front door, back door, or fifth grade door depending on the grade level.  Grade levels will congregate in their assigned areas out front. Please do not crowd the entryways so that our students can exit. 


Lunch

Breakfast and lunch will be offered every day. Student meal prices for next year are $1.60 for breakfast and $3.15 for lunch.

If you know of any families new to the Aldrich attendance area who have not registered their children, please encourage them to call Ms. Lauren Allen at 402-715-2020 or email her at laallen@mpsomaha.org.

Registration for 2023-2024

 2023-24 EXISTING STUDENT UPDATES 

Annual updates are required for all currently enrolled Millard students. 

You must update your family’s current demographic information and digitally sign all required documents for the upcoming school year. 


The update window opened June 9, 2023 and will close on July 31, 2023. (All annual updates must be completed within this window.) 


Step 1 is to log into your ParentVue Account and select the “Annual Update” for each of your enrolled students


Trouble signing into your ParentVue account, call 402-715-8000. 

Questions about registering your new student(s), or if you need more information, please call Centralized Registration at 402-715-8700. 


Important drop off and pick up information

At Back to School Night you will receive a yellow car sign.  If you choose to pick up your student in the front car line please make the yellow sign visible to staff so that we can get your child to you quickly.  If you need additional car signs please email Ms. Allen at laallen@mpsomaha.org.
