Learner Profile Attribute: Caring
All authorized IB programmes use the IB Learner Profile, a set of "10 attributes valued by IB World Schools. We believe these attributes, and others like them, can help individuals and groups become responsible members of local, national and global communities."
CARING
We show empathy, compassion and respect. We have a commitment to service, and we act to make a positive difference in the lives of others and in the world around us.
How can parents help develop this attribute at home?
Model caring behavior for your child (hold the door for people, use kind words, take care of the environment, etc.).
Point out to your child when you have noticed them helping others without being asked, using kind words, thinking of others, and doing nice things for others &/or the environment.
After reading a book consider how the different characters felt and their individual actions. Was someone caring?
How can your family get involved with community service?

Parents/Guardians-
In October, our classroom counseling lessons in grades K-5 will focus on skills of resiliency, coping skills and how to get help for oneself and/or a friend. These lessons are intended to educate students on feelings of stress, worry, sadness, how to cope with such feelings, and how to ask for help if needed. Please talk with your child about these feelings, and reinforce appropriate coping strategies such as talking with a trusted adult, exercising, or doing an activity they enjoy.
Please contact Mr. Brett Struck at bmstruck@mpsomaha.org or 402-715-2030 with any questions!
