Learner Profile Attribute: Reflective

All authorized IB programmes use the IB Learner Profile, a set of "10 attributes valued by IB World Schools. We believe these attributes, and others like them, can help individuals and groups become responsible members of local, national and global communities."

Reflective

We thoughtfully consider the world and our own ideas and experience. We work to understand our strengths and weaknesses in order to support our learning and personal development.

How can parents help develop this attribute at home?

All Star Staff Members of the Month

This week's All Star Staff Member is Mr. Whiston! Ross Whiston was nominated by Stephanie Hughes.  She shares, “Mr. Whiston consistently makes Aldrich a place where everyone feels welcome. He invites students into his lessons, teaching them the skills they'll need while instilling an appreciation for music. His good-natured humor and positive attitude are contagious among the staff. Mr. Whiston genuinely cares for the Aldrich community, and his music programs showcase his dedication to bringing out the best in each child. We are grateful for Mr. Whiston!”

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Conferences are next week! You should have received a confirmation letter that was sent home with your student on Wednesday with your scheduled time. Please be on time for your appointment.

-Tuesday, October 10th from 4:00pm-8:00pm in person

-Wednesday, October 11th from 4:00pm-8:00pm in person

Parents/Guardians-

In October, our classroom counseling lessons in grades K-5 will focus on skills of resiliency, coping skills and how to get help for oneself and/or a friend. These lessons are intended to educate students on feelings of stress, worry, sadness, how to cope with such feelings, and how to ask for help if needed. Please talk with your child about these feelings, and reinforce appropriate coping strategies such as talking with a trusted adult, exercising, or doing an activity they enjoy.

Please contact Mr. Brett Struck at bmstruck@mpsomaha.org or 402-715-2030 with any questions!

Parking Reminders:

-Please do NOT park across the street at the Methodist clinic for drop off and pick-up. We have received complaints from the clinic that there aren't parking spots for the patients that have appointments there as our families are parking there and walking across the street.

-The handicap parking spots at the school are for those that have handicap permits only. Even if you are just here to pick up or drop off quickly we need to keep those spots open for those who require them.

The PTO had such a great time celebrating our Blue Ribbon Award with the staff, teachers, students and parents last week! We are honored to be part of such an incredible award-winning school. Our ‘23-‘24 Olympic day shirts look fantastic and were a great addition to the Blue Ribbon celebration and Olympic day meeting kickoff. A special thank you to Abby Reinke for ordering and organizing the shirts for the school and students.
