Dana McKnight went to Mason High School and graduated from Western Governor's University with a Bachelor's Degree in Educational Studies in Special and Elementary Education. She worked as a Special Education Secretary for 8 years before going back to school to become a teacher. She has taught Special Education for the last 4 years.
Dana is passionate about helping students recognize their strengths and celebrating the small milestones that lead to meaningful growth. She is committed to creating a classroom where every student feels safe, supported, challenged, and encouraged to reach their full potential.
Dana and her husband, Ryan, of 27 years have 2 children. Meghan is 22 and is a graduate of Calvin University. She is currently in nursing school at GVSU and engaged to be married August 2027. Evan is 18 and is getting ready to leave for his first year of college at Central Michigan University to major in finance. Dana and her husband have 2 spoiled dogs, Piper and Scout, both are boxer/lab mixes.
Dana's enthusiasm shines brightest when students experience those exciting "aha!" moments, and she looks forward to partnering with families and building positive relationships throughout the school year.
Fun fact: Dana was born on the exact day MTV first launched.
Dana loves to travel. Her two favorite types of trips are either at an all-inclusive resort somewhere in the Caribbean or somewhere in Europe soaking in the history. When she is not traveling, she loves baking and making cakes for my friends and family.
