I have been teaching for over 20 years and I love it!

It is my pleasure to help our magnet students reach their full potenial. It is my hope that students leave my classroom as confident, creative, respectful, and excited learners.

1st Quarter 2026-2027

What's going on in class?

We're in the 1st Quarter of First Grade. We are learning so much!!! We are reviewing grammar skills daily using a spiral review located in our work binders. We are decoding and reading 2nd grade words and sentences. We are listening to and reading stories. We are asking and answering questions about what we have read.

Make sure that your child is practicing every night at home for at least 30 minutes.

Here are some important tips to help your child succeed:

Use your Home Connection sheet and reading practice sheets to read over your high-frequency words, spelling words, and vocabulary words every night. Discuss the meanings of the words because students will have to know how to use the words in context.
Practice writing your words in the correct context by writing complete sentences. Try to write at least 5 or more sentences containing 8 or more words. For example, The little girl completed her math homework with her mom. Add details. Describe the nouns and verbs. Use some common nouns and proper nouns.
Practice writing a paragraph. Start with an Opening Sentence, write two or three details, and write one closing sentence.
Practice reading your weekly decodables and writing answers to the corresponding questions.
Use our online platform to study. Log into Clever, click on McGraw Hill, click Open Court Reading Grade 2, choose the Unit, lesson, and day you want to practice.
Practice reciting your Poem. You will have to stand in front of the class to say it. Use expressions as you speak. Speak clearly and loudly.

We are learning, exploring, and growing.

Come bloom with us!!!
