Sharon Cormany Language & Literature Teacher Edison High School
I love teaching writing and I believe strongly that everyone can improve their writing with lots of practice and feedback (also known as the Writing Process). My goal is to help every student develop the confidence to share their ideas in writing with the audience they choose. I also want to help students develop strong critical thinking and inquiry skills.
I have been teaching in the Minneapolis Public Schools for 26 years, 17 of those at Edison. I have been teaching CIS Writing through the University of MN (WRIT 1201) longer than any other teacher in the state! I got my BA at Macalester College, a Master's of Education at the University of Minnesota, and have taken additional graduate courses in literature from MN State University Moorhead.
In addition to teaching, I spend much of my day coordinating the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (MYP), supporting Edison's 9th and 10th grade teachers and students.
I live in Golden Valley with my husband and dogs. I enjoy yoga, kayaking, bicycling, singing in a choir, gardening, and being outside.
