Speech & Language
Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students,
Hello and thanks for stopping by! It is truly an honor to be here at Seward, helping students learn to communicate more clearly. The Speech and Language team at Seward this year consists of Paige Whitney and Maggie Dering. We speech-language pathologists (SLPs), get to work with students who have a wide range of communication needs. This includes helping students articulate specific speech sounds; teaching stuttering management and fluency-enhancing techniques to kids who stutter; facilitating social communication skills in students with autism spectrum disorder or developmental disabilities; and improving kids' ability to use and understand language to communicate more effectively with others and achieve success with language-based schoolwork. Every student we work with has a unique set of needs and circumstances and we love creating custom lessons for each student or small group that are accessible, enjoyable, and maximally effective.
Paige's other interests include hiking, paddling, improv, and traveling! She is an enthusiastic alumna of Lawrence University in Appleton, WI, and graduate of the University of Minnesota's master's program in Speech-Language Pathology.
Maggie lives in Minneapolis with her husband and 2 children, ages 6 and 8. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking, reading, and traveling. She received her master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Minnesota and has been working as a speech-language pathologist in the district for 12 years.
This site is designed to provide contact information and resources for you. If there is anything else you need, please stop by room 107, or contact us by phone or email.
