PE Curriculum Overview

The Year at a Glance (YAG) lays out all of the long term learning targets a student is expected to master by the end of the year by bundling and sequencing them into the right units.

The scope and sequence of K-8 Physical Education (PE) is flexible to meet the needs of the school facilities, resources, schedule, and student population. There are four curricular themes focused on in PE - Fitness, Coordination/Team Sports, Cooperative Activities, Lifetime Activities.

It is required that all 4 curricular themes and long-term learning targets are met within each course. It is recommended that all 4 themes are integrated throughout the course and not taught only as an independent unit of study. Benchmark Assessments should be performed once per course in each theme, with Fitness Assessment occurring at the beginning and end of each course.
