Welcome to Roosevelt High School, 9th and 10th Grade Teddies and Families! Let's have an amazing year together!

Greetings! My name is Rebecca Oberg and I teach English 9 and English 10 at Roosevelt. My 2nd and 4th hours are co-taught with Liz Rolfsmeier (semester 1) and Johanna Baker-Raivo (semester 2). My 7th hour is co-taught with Megan Luken. We'll also have a student teacher from the U of M joining our classroom this year!

I have taught at Roosevelt since 2009, and while my primary focus has been 9th grade I have also taught several other courses and worked as the building's literacy specialist and teacher coach/observer. 

I majored in English, Geography, and European Studies at the University of Minnesota. I also earned my Masters of Education from the University of Minnesota. Go Gophers!

Our classroom is an active classroom. Students are participating in and leading high level discussions and discourse, creating dynamic works of writing, reading and analyzing high quality literature, and so much more! We currently collaborate with some amazing community partners, such as the Guthrie Theater and Project SUCCESS, to bring theater into the English curriculum as a lens for bringing complex texts to life in a new way.
