I am so excited to be able to work with our middle grades students in developing critical thinking, encouraging civic engagement, and building a love for questioning the world around them. My teaching philosophy is student centered and I want to always encourage students to bring their best to the classroom. Our class will work on developing community and individuality. While dissecting our thinking, questioning and creating knowledge, and engaging in empathy, we will become better community members.
I went to Hale, Field, and then South High School. I then attended the University of Minnesota and earned a BA in History with a minor in Native American Studies. I received my Master's Degree in Education from the University of Minnesota. In my spare time I love to watch our local teams, Twins, Wild, Vikings, Wolves, Loons and Lynx.
I love traveling and have been to South America, Europe, and lived and taught abroad for a year in the Middle East in the country of Bahrain. Being in Minneapolis is important for me and I am dedicated to our city and students as we build our Global Studies and Humanities Magnet School. Students bringing their own heritage, culture, and experiences into the classroom is an essential part of our social studies classes and our mission.
