This Semester course will provide you with knowledge of the basics of Painting. We will cover most of the Art Elements that include for example: Line, Shape, Form, Value, Texture, and Space. Each unit will develop one or more of the Elements and Design Principles in order to better understand the role of art in contemporary society as well as context within art history. The course units include: Color Wheel & Color Theory, landscape painting, still-life painting, etc. There will be a variety of drawing and painting used. As a developing artist you will learn about perceiving, decoding, and participating in the visual culture around you.

The course units include: Marketing Design, Functional Ceramics, Creative Clay Sculpture, Cardboard Construction, etc. There will be a variety of media being used in the duration of this course. As a developing artist you will learn about conceptual intelligence, messaging, and participating in the visual culture around you.
This Year-long course is designed for interested students who are serious and passionate about refining their skills within Drawing, 2D Art, and 3D Ceramics. The expectation of candidates are to invest time and effort in producing the required work to receive college credit, post-secondary education. Taking this course is an opportunity to place out of introductory level art courses coming into college. Students will build a portfolio through a Sustained Investigation of a theme. The course emphasizes making art as an ongoing process which guides the student through contextual awareness and critical decision-making in their artworks.
AP Studio Art through the College Board will assess students through a refined art portfolio determining a level of mastery for credit that will be submitted at the end of the school year, rather than taking a written exam as in other AP courses.
