8th Grade ELA in C216

Welcome!

My name is Teresa Gloppen, and I am one of the 8th grade ELA teachers. "Strong readers and writers know the world and have voices." I believe literacy - reading, writing, listening, and speaking - give people access to power and self-discovery.

This is my seventh year at Andersen and my thirteenth year in education. Before coming to Andersen, I worked in high schools teaching AP Literature and AP Language. I have both a 5-12 Communication Arts & Literature and a K-12 ESL License. I attended college at Loyola University Chicago where my dream was originally to work in the criminal justice system as a domestic violence advocate. I am so grateful to have found education as I love learning with young people.

Welcome to my class and my website! This is full of resources to empower you as a reader and writer. The website is constantly changing and gaining new resources, websites, and videos. Please keep checking back!

Welcome!

Hello! My name is Ms. McGehee. I am an ESL teacher for all grades, and I am also teaching 8th grade ELA with Ms. Gloppen. I am so excited to help students discover their interests in literature. I hope that each student feels empowered as they write about ideas that matter to them. This is my second year at Andersen and my tenth year teaching in Minneapolis Public Schools. Before teaching in Minneapolis, I taught English in Thailand.

When I am not teaching, I love to travel and spend time in nature. One of my favorite things to do is hike in northern Minnesota and in the mountains. I am originally from the Chicago area, and this is where most of my family lives. I live in Minneapolis with my husband- we love to walk around the lakes, spend time with friends, and enjoy all the city has to offer. I am very excited to meet you!
