Physics and Physical Science

For me, I am driven by two main philosophies: know more today about the world than I did yesterday and lessen the suffering of others. You'd be surprised at how far that gets you.
- Neil deGrasse Tyson

Hello and welcome to North Community High School!

My name is Mr. Cass and I've been teaching at North since 2015. Currently, I teach 9th grade Physical Science and 11th/12th grade Physics. My goal is to show our young scholar how science relates to their everyday lives and how viewing the world through an inquisitive scientific lens can lead them take them to the stars, both literally and figuratively. My teaching philosophy is to treat the brain like a muscle - challenge it and make it strain a bit in order for it to grow stronger. I do this by exposing my students to natural phenomena through hands-on, interactive activities and then helping them figure out how and why their experiences are the way they are. In this way, I am not just telling them to memorize scientific facts, but developing their scientific skills, knowledge, and literacy in the hope of assisting our scholars in reaching their full potential of becoming life-long learners, problems solvers, and educated citizen scientists.

When I'm not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my lovely wife Coresa and our Great Dane Zoey. Additionally, I enjoy coaching the Polar JV football team and waterskiing down the road with the Twin Cities River Rats.
