Both structured and unstructured play is essential for children of all ages. Through play, kids develop their imagination, communication skills, physical strength, coordination, problem solving skills, and so much more. While it may take some support from adults to teach kids how to play cooperatively with others, such as sharing toys, taking turns, or trying others' ideas, kids also learn so much from trial and error with one another!
It can also be hard to see kids make a mess, maybe using craft supplies in ways you never imagined, but this also gives them a chance to learn how to be responsible for their things and how to clean up after themselves. Play is such a powerful learning tool, and adults can learn so much from it too! Let's play!
