Diego De Paz

Greetings and welcome! My name is Diego De Paz and I am the proud principal of Bancroft Elementary!

I feel extremely privileged to be a part of Bancroft’s dedicated and diverse learning community!  As an IB school we strive to "develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world."

I joined the Minneapolis Public Schools in 2013 as a School Improvement Specialist and then served as the Assistant Principal at Whittier International Elementary here in Minneapolis before coming to Bancroft.

Prior to my roles with the Minneapolis Public Schools, I had the great fortune to be a classroom teacher for thirteen years with the Bloomington Public Schools. My time in the classroom allowed me to understand the importance of creating a positive academic and social experience for all learners. It is this same philosophy that I bring to leadership. I strongly believe that by building and establishing relationships, creating a focus on learning, and setting high expectations for staff and students we will have a great impact on learning.

Personally, I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Child Psychology from the University of Minnesota. Throughout my career, I continued my education earning a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and a K-12 Administrative License also from the University of Minnesota. I am the proud papa of three beautiful, inquisitive, and humorous girls. A 9 year old who is in Fourth Grade this year, and my 6 year old twins who are in First Grade! I am a resident of Minneapolis and absolutely love this city.

I am proud to call Bancroft Elementary my home. I look forward to the opportunity to serve the staff, students and families of Bancroft Elementary with sincere excitement!
