Parent Teacher Conferences begin February 16, 2021

Hello Anwatin Families,

Ms. Ellen here with a brief message.

We have officially come to the end of first semester and are entering the start of the second half of the year. WOW. We have made it through a lot. As we all know, we are not over the hump but we have made a lot of progress. So many of our young scholars have found their groove with distance learning. Some actually enjoy it, others put up with it, and there are those few who totally hate it. Anwatin educators continue to be dedicated to finding new ways to engage all students and pull them into learning despite the challenges.

Third quarter grades will be sent out mid February. February is also when parent teacher conferences begin. Anwatin conferences will follow a similar structure to the fall. Soon advisors will begin contacting families to set up initial conferences with the student, family member, and advisor. Conferences with other classes can be arranged with the support of your child’s advisor. Our conference window will be between February 16 - March 12.

In order for you to have a better understanding of your child’s progress a short narrative from content teachers will be provided. This narrative will give you a brief picture of how your child is doing which may include strategies for future success.

Thank you for your ongoing support

NO CHANGE in SCHEDULES

MPS in collaboration with MFT (MPS teachers union) have come up with a plan on how to carry out the Governor's order for a Flexible Learning Day. It as determined that there is a need for "educators to connect with students, deepen relationships, provide intensive academic support and plan for online learning. This flexibility will allow for more preparation for teaching and learning, effective student engagement and outreach to families." The schedule at Anwatin already meets the requirements o the state and MPS. Wednesday is our flexible learning day. Students will still be expected to engage in a variety of learning activities throughout the day. Students have the most success with this day when they check into their google classroom, check-in with their content teachers, and use this time to catch up with work. No new work is given on Wednesdays.
