9.2-4 How Do We Talk About Probability

Let's think about flipping a coin...

The chance of getting a head or a tail is "equally likely".

That's one way we talk about probability - with words.

We could also say the chance of getting a head is 50%.

Percents is another way we talk about probability.

We can also express probability with numbers between 0 and 1.

So the chance of flipping a heads is 0.5

This is similar to percent.

Words

Numbers (from 0 to 1)

Percents (from 0% to 100%)

- impossible (has a probability of 0 or 0%)?

-Not Likely (has a probability of 0.25 or 25%)?

-Equally Likely (has a probability of 0.5 or 50%)?

-Likely (has a probability of 0.75 or 75%)?

-Certain (has a probability of 1 or 100%)?
