Thank you for your interest. We are excited to partner with you. Please begin your review with the start here document and read the guidance we provide students. Feel free to use this job description template to create your job, internship, or volunteer experience position. You will then want to review the handbook that will power the student's experience. Two documents you may want to review so you can determine whether you are offering a job or internship are the Federal Documents #22 and #71. Once you have done all of this schedule an appointment with us and we will be happy to meet with you and work to connect you with MPC students who will be a great fit for your organization.
Students are provided with this internship success strategies handout before they are placed with you. We want the partnership to be successful for the students and the employers and we are here to help support you and answer all of your questions.
If you are considering an unpaid internship you need to review guidance. For unpaid interns you will need to enroll the students in one of our practical WORK courses for two reasons: to provide worker’s compensation insurance and to ensure students set learning objectives in compliance with the law. Unpaid internships are not free labor, they are learning opportunities for students that you are agreeing to volunteer your companies time to teach, mentor, and coach.
During the course students are working towards meeting their three learning objectives you created with them when they started their course. The site visit is typically scheduled about halfway through the course. It is the student's responsibility to schedule the site visit using a scheduler they were provided. It is their job to coordinate the visit between the three parties (student, instructor, and faculty). Before the meeting you both should meet and go over the three learning objectives to gather your thoughts on how you have worked on them and what you want to talk about for our brief meeting. You want to cover: an overview of the work experience, your goals, how you worked on them, what progress you made, and share thoughts on what went well. There is a guide to help you prepare.
For automotive, hospitality, and CSIS internships we have an interest form we would like you to fill out. Find them below.
