Our Catholic Social Teaching for this week...

"Call to Family, Community & Participation"

As a Mount community, we must continue to contribute to the common good of all God's people, especially the poor and the vulnerable.

  • What an awesome HOWDY WEEK it was last week! Thank you to our National Honor Society organization for their efforts to host a great week for our student body! Over $950 was collected this week, and NHS is donating half of these proceeds to the Oklahoma Alzheimer's Association. The other half is going to go towards The Mount's Softball Team collection efforts to assist victims of Hurricane Harvey.
        • On September 30th, the NHS members are participating in the OKC Alzheimer's Walk. We welcome any of our Mount Family members to walk with us. The National Honor Society has formed a "team," so Contact Leroy Cantrell, the NHS Sponsor, if you have any questions.
  • Attention Seniors! There is limited space available for the Mount St. Mary ACT prep course. The sessions begin October 3rd and run through October 26th. Keep in mind it is a "first come - first served" basis. Sign up with the counselors TODAY!
        • Reminder: All MSM students must take the ACT and the SAT as a graduation requirement!
  • Mount Families....A great opportunity is among us. The powers that be have reserved sections of the Cox Convention Center for students from The Mount and McGuinness for the Beatification Mass of Father Stanley Rother on Saturday, September 23, at 10 am. Our teachers will talk up this opportunity with all students and get an estimate of how many students would be interested in going. We are planning this in conjunction with McGuinness and want to bring as many students as possible from both high schools. Parents, have your interested students speak with our teachers so that early next week we can get commitments (permission forms) from the students if they are attending. We will offer buses to and from the event for our students.
  • The ROCKET Football Team started off the season with a 43-6 win over Crooked Oak. Senior Tanner Wade threw for 236yds, 2TDs and added another rushing TD. Junior Jacob Loflin led the receiving core with 10 catches, 150yds, and 1 TD. In his first start at Running Back, Junior Colton Cox led the rushing attack with 120yds and 2TDs. Defensively, Kaysen Fisher and Riley Lowry lead the team in tackles. The ROCKETS take on 2-0 CHA Friday night at CHA.
        • Attached is the link to our game with CHA this Friday that was selected as Game of the Week! There will also be Pre/Post game player interviews and will be replayed on Cox. https://www.yurview.com/oklahomahub-live2 GO ROCKETS!
  • Support Rocket Cheer at the OSSAA Regional Cheerleading Competition Saturday, September 16. The event is held at Yukon High School, and our division begins at 12:30 pm! Rocket Cheer needs your LOUD support, as crowd involvement is on the score sheet. Let's show off our Rocket Pride!
  • Cross Country had their second meet of the season on Friday, September 1st. It was a 5A and 6A meet at Carl Albert High School. The boys' team placed 5th and the girls' team placed 8th overall. Bennett Barnett finished 16th, and Gabby Sanderson finished 21st out of 140 runners and 21 teams in the class 6A division. Our Rockets raced against some of the best teams in Oklahoma. Rocket Cross Country will be back in action on September 16th at the Oklahoma Baptist University invite.
  • Next week is COLLEGE WEEK at MSM! Our awesome counselors will promote the importance of a college education through a variety of fun activities, i.e., scavenger hunts, educational trivia, and our staff plans to get into the fun as well!
  • Are you interested in purchasing a letter jacket for your student athlete? Our representative, Mr. Sherwood Taylor (630-6857), is scheduled to be at the following games to take orders:
        • September 18th
        • September 29th
  • Our annual ALL SCHOOL RETREAT is scheduled for this coming Wednesday! Our Campus Ministry Department has planned a beautiful day for us - fellowship, prayer, reflections, Mass, and we end the day with an ice cream party!
        • For the first half of the day, students are to wear jeans and an MSM spirit shirt. We are attending Mass together as our first activity, and we are in church and should be dressed accordingly. The rest of the morning we are in group-sharing and reflection.
        • At lunch and for the rest of the afternoon, because we have planned physical activities, the students may bring school-appropriate shorts to change into.
  • Friday, September 15th, is FOOD TRUCK FRIDAY! Hopefully we will have beautiful weather!! Please be reminded that this is an optional lunch opportunity for our students. Our school cafeteria will also be available.
  • It's a JEANS DAY for our school community....Friday, September 15th! The Spanish Club is sponsoring the day, and for $1 students may wear school-appropriate jeans with an MSM spirit shirt.
  • The final Magic at The Mount gift gathering is Thursday, September 14th, at the home Rocket Volleyball game. Bring your donations to the gift gathering table for your chance to be entered into a drawing for great prizes! The 2017 Magic at The Mount Auction is October 21!
