MOUNDS VIEW'S GAME WITH ELK RIVER MOVED TO FEBRUARY 26
Mounds View's game with Elk River originally scheduled for February 28 has been moved to February 26. The Mustangs girls basketball team will be hosting their first section game on February 28.

MUSTANGS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SPRING LAKE PARK JAMBOREE
The Mounds View Varsity basketball team will compete in the Panther Jamboree at Spring Lake Park High School on November 29. The Mustangs will face Blaine for one half starting at 8:55. Head to SLP to get an early look at the 2023-2024 Mustangs!
MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES NIGHT AT MVHS "MUSTANG TIP OFF EVENT"
We encourage all players to join us for an exciting upcoming event – in partnership with the Minnesota Timberwolves there will be a “Mustang Tip Off” event on Tuesday, November 21st at Mounds View High School from 7:00 – 8:30pm. The goal of this evening is to get the high school and youth programs together to celebrate the beginning of the basketball season. The Mounds View boys and girls varsity basketball players will be in attendance and introduced and we will also introduce all MVBA girls and boys traveling teams.
This event is FREE and highlights of the night will include:
Appearances from the Minnesota Timberwolves in-arena and host and DJ
Appearance from the Timberwolves mascot – Crunch
On court contests featuring Mounds View varsity and youth basketball players
A dunk show put on by the Timberwolves Slam Squad and Crunch
Timberwolves prizes to be given away

TRYOUTS FOR BOYS BASKETBALL ARE JUST AROUND THE CORNER!!
The dates for 9th grade tryouts will be:
October 30 6:30-8:30 PM
November 2 6:30-8:30 PM
November 6 6:30-8:00 PM
The first day of practice for the 9th grade team will be November 20 from 8AM-10:00.
The 9th grade team will also practice on November 21and November 22, 8AM-10:00. No practice November 23-26.
Tryouts for 10th grade basketball will be on the following dates and times (at MVHS):

Nov 21 12:00-2:00
In addition, there will be practice on Nov 22 from 12:00-2:00.

Please keep in mind, there are other opportunities outside of MV school basketball to be on a team if a player is cut. We will provide information to players who are not selected.

FALL 2023 OPEN GYM SCHEDULE
OPEN GYMS
Open gym provides a free opportunity to prepare for the season. Open gym is available to Mounds View High School students and MV basketball alumni. All open gyms will be in the MAC from 6:30-8:30. All basketball players in grades 9-12 are eligible to attend.

Due to weather concerns, our game at East Ridge originally scheduled for February 22 has been cancelled. Instead, we will be traveling to East Ridge on MONDAY, FEBRUARY 27, for a make up game. Tip off will be at 7:00.

Candidates should attend all three sessions and arrived prepared and dressed for competition. We expect to keep 12-20 players for the 9th grade team. All candidates MUST be registered for basketball in order to tryout. Players will be evaluated on their skill level, attitude and effort, team commitment, and by positions. It is very likely that not all candidates will be selected. However, there are opportunities to continue playing through other organizations. SEVERAL MUSTANGS HONORED BY THE SEC
After finishing the season with a 16-12 record, several Mustangs received post season awards. Seniors Kobe Kirk and Dylan Wheeler were name All-Suburban East Conference. Senior Ryan Edelman and juniors Colby Deluce and Jacob Becher were named AC Honorable Mention. Dylan Wheeler was also selected to play in the MBCA All Star game. In addition, the Mustangs were selected as the Section 5AAAA Academic Champions. Great job Mustangs!
MUSTANGS MOVE ON- PLAY PARK CENTER ON MARCH 15
The Mounds View Mustangs defeated Irondale by a score of 62-47 to move on to the second round of Section 5AAAA play. MV will face the number one seed, Park Center, at 7:00 on March 15. The game will be at Park Center. GO MUSTANGS!!
MUSTANGS HOST IRONDALE IN SECTION PLAY
The Mounds View Mustangs will host Irondale on Wednesday, March 9, at 7:00. Fans are encouraged to arrive early. GO MUSTANGS!
MUSTANG ALUMNI WEEKEND, MARCH 4-5
All Mustang basketball alumni are invited to ALUMNI WEEKEND on March 4th and 5th. The Mustangs will take on Woodbury on March 4 at 7:00. After the game, Mustang alumni are invited to a post game gathering at The Exchange in New Brighton. On March 5th, we will be hosting an Alumni Game starting at 10:30AM! MOUNDS VIEW DEFEATS NEW PRAGUE TO IMPROVE TO 12-7
The Mounds View Mustangs participated in the "Fight the Stigma" games at Kasson-Mantorville High School and defeated New Prague High School by a score of 64-43. The event raises awareness and funds for mental health awareness. With the victory, the Mustangs improved to 12-7 on the season. Mounds View will next play on February 11 against Park High School, 7:00, at Kauls Court.
SENIOR GUARD DYLAN WHEELER SCORES HIS 1,000TH POINT!
During Mounds View's game against Forest Lake on December 17, senior guard Dylan Wheeler scored the 1,000th point of his career. Dylan becomes the 10th Mustang in school history to score 1,000 points! Congratulations to Dylan on this outstanding accomplishment!

Saturday, December 18, was a historic day for Mounds View basketball. The Mustangs defeated Big Lake 77-54 to secure the 1,000th win in school history. Reaching this milestone is a tribute to all of the past and current Mustangs who have worn the Green and White! Our program has a rich history of success on and off the court. All Mustangs should be proud of this accomplishment! GO MUSTANGS!!
MOUNDS VIEW UPENDS IRONDALE FOR WIN NUMBER 999
The Mounds View Mustang boys basketball team defeated Irondale by a score of 49-37 in a defensive battle on Tuesday, December 14, to improve to 5-1 on the season. The victory was also the 999th win in school history. The Mustangs will pursue victory number 1,000 on Friday, December 17, against Forest Lake. Tip off will be at 7:00. Come and support the Mustangs as we attempt to achieve this historic milestone!

Candidates should attend tryouts with their own grade unless instructed by the coaching staff. We expect more players trying out than we can keep on our rosters. Candidates will be evaluated on the basics of basketball, effort, attitude, and ranked by position. There are other opportunities for players outside of the high school team for those who are not selected. We will provide more information at the conclusion of tryouts. Candidates should plan to attend all sessions and be dressed and ready for active participation.
