Week 6 HS

Players and Parents,

This week our program completed another sweep, our second of the season. After a solid week of effort and growth at practice the 9th Grade, JV, and Varsity all picked up victories over Park Center. The Varsity won in resounding fashion Friday night, but the scoreboard was not what impressed me the most Friday night's performance. All week the players focused on getting themselves and their teammates better every opportunity they had. The coaching staff used the game as an opportunity to challenge the team to play a perfect game, not a game without mistakes, but a game where we gave Top Notch effort, attitude, and character for 48 minutes. They responded with one of the most complete performances I have seen in my time as coach here. I was proud of the product we put on the field, but most proud of how the players selflessly celebrated and supported each other all night.

Our challenge now heading down the home stretch of the season is going to be keeping our focus on Process Over Product. We have three regular season games remaining, with the end in sight, it is more important than ever to focus on staying present and focusing on what matters the most, the next step in the process. We need to savor our remaining time on this 2018 journey, and if we wish to make it last as long as possible, we need to continue to stay dedicated to getting better every chance we get. This week we will use this quote to focus our efforts:

“We compete not so much against an opponent, but against ourselves, the real test is this: Did I make my best effort on every play?” - Bud Wilkinson-
