Week 5 Armstrong
Players and Parents,
We are officially half way through the regular season. Last week the varsity had a tough loss to a very good Coon Rapids Team, but both the JV and 9th grade squads took home victories moving our program record to 8 wins and 4 losses on the year. We knew heading into the season the sting of losing 26 seniors from last years team would create some growing pains for us on the varsity level. From players to coaches, we all believe that this team has the talent and commitment to continue leveling up, and be playing our best football when it matters most at the end of the season. We face a tough test again this week with an undefeated Armstrong team, but we look forward to the chance to test ourselves and see where we measure up with the best in the state when we play our best.
Our quote to guide or efforts this week comes from John Wooden the legendary NCAA Basketball Coach and master motivator.
"Stay the course. When thwarted try again: harder: smarter. Persevere relentlessly.”
This week we will stay the course with our Level Up mentality. Our group needs to dig deep and keep believing that we will get their if we take every chance we get to work harder, give max effort, and stay positive.
This week is also our Tackle Cancer Game and Senior Parent Night. Our school has already raised over $1,300 for the Randy Shaver Cancer Research Fund from our July- Steak Fry and GB Leighton Concert, we hope to add to that total this week. We will also honor our 13 senior players, 2 senior managers, and their parents before the game Friday. It has not been an easy road for this group of seniors, either on the field or off the field. We lost quite a few of their teammates along the way, but the strong stayed and made up for it, and their is not a group I have coached that I have been more proud of than them.
Looking forward to a great week.
