Week 2 SLP

Players and Parents,

What a great first week for our program. We overcame a lot the last few weeks and remained focus on Leveling Up, which lead all three team to wins. As if the last few weeks have not been enough of a disruption, the varsity bus to Park Center got into a fender bender before the game Friday night. I was very proud of the resiliency and focus of the group as we switched buses and showed up late without the JV or any equipment, but still managed to come out and play a solid game.

This week we will focus on having HEART. One part of having heart is overcoming adversity. While we have had a lot of opportunities to show our resiliency this year, we anticipate a big test on the field this week. Spring Lake Park is our rival, and the games at all levels are hard fought. We will surely face adversity on the field this week, and how we respond will help shape the rest of our season. Our quote of the week is:

“Hardships often prepare ordinary people for an extraordinary DESTINY” -CS Lewis-

This week as school starts and we settle back into a more normal routine, we look to overcome adversity of the field, as we work towards GOAL #1 every year, beat SPRING LAKE PARK.

Updates for this week:

Varsity Only Practice Monday 7pm-9pm-

We will practice today from 7pm-9pm. Meet on the field at 7pm, tennis shoes only. We will not have access to the building.

Parents Sign Up for Volunteering

As we move into the heart of the season, we have lots of opportunities for parents to help out. Jobs little to big are all important to the program, so please donate your time if you can. 9th Grade Parents- Reminder you should be signed up for at least one home game for the concession stand.

School Starts/ Attendance

School starts for 9th graders Tuesday 9/3/19 and for 10th-12th Graders Wednesday 9/4/19. Final bell for 1st hour rings at 8:35am. As we move into the regular school schedule players should be on time to school every day, and every class during the school day. We have a large presence in the school and it is important that we keep our good reputation. Missing class or school will impact your ability to practice and or play in games.

Practice Times/Meetings

Every day players should plan on meeting in room LL17 at 3:30pm sharp. (Basement Room near weight room- Mr. Burtness' classroom). Even if players need to meet with teachers after school, they need to check in in LL17 before going to the teacher. In general we will meet from 3:30-4:15 and practice 4:30-6:30. Look to the weekly email I send for details.

The school has purchased a set of locks for the locker room. We will be issuing locks over the next few days. Every player need a lock and a locker, and needs to keep their equipment in the locker.

Looking forward to another week of players leveling up, and exceeding expectations.
