Hello There!

Life is weird right now, isn't it? 8th grade is hard enough as it is, and now COVID-19? E-Learning? Half Days!? I am here to assure you, that no matter what happens this year, we will get through it TOGETHER. I am so happy to be your ELA and Literature teacher. Together we will learn about reading and writing (and a lot of other cool stuff) to prepare you for high school next year.

Below you will find everything you need to help you this year, whether you're a parent or a student. The biggest piece of information I want to stress this year is COMMUNICATION. No matter what question you have, please feel free to reach out using my contact information below. We are in this together.

About Ms. Smith

My name is Caila Smith and I am so excited to teach back in Morris this year. I was a Saratoga Hawk myself for a little bit! I was born in Morris and moved away for a bit, but happily moved back almost 2 years ago.

I attended Illinois State University, where most of my family went too to become teachers. I come from a long line of educators, and my mom is a superintendent in the area. I live in Morris with my boyfriend Ryan - he is an engineer for wind farms, so he's on the road a lot. But that's okay, because I have the greatest dog in the world (no, really) to keep me company - Chance!

Outside of school you'll find us as the dog park, outside whenever we can be, traveling (when COVID is over!) and with our friends. Other than teaching, I love to read, cook and drink lots of coffee. I also have a huge passion for both interior design and web design. I'm a creative through and through. Happy to have you here and in my classroom this year!
