Advanced course levels

• A demanding workload, higher performance standards, and assessments that prioritize depth of understanding over memorization. 

• Grades reflect mastery, persistence, and the ability to apply learning in sophisticated ways. While support and guidance are provided, students are expected to advocate for themselves, seek help proactively, and demonstrate academic integrity at all times.

• Students are expected to come to class prepared, manage their time effectively, and take ownership of their learning. Homework assignments are purposeful and may require sustained effort, long-term planning, and independent research. 

• Class discussions, collaborative work, and assessments assume active participation and thoughtful engagement rather than passive completion.

• A significant time commitment, frequent and rigorous assessments, and performance standards aligned with college-level expectations. 

• Assignments and assessments emphasize depth of understanding, precision, and the ability to construct well-supported arguments or solutions. 

• Grades reflect mastery of advanced content, consistency of effort, and readiness for the cumulative AP examination.

• Students are expected to manage demanding workloads, meet strict deadlines, and consistently prepare for class through extensive reading, practice, and review. Much of the learning occurs outside the classroom, with students taking primary responsibility for mastering material, refining skills, and preparing for assessments. 

• Class time is fast-paced and assumes prior preparation and active intellectual engagement.
