Students in AP and/or Honor level courses may appeal to withdraw to a lower level of the same course within the first three weeks of marking period one. Changes are evaluated based on availability at the lower level. Students must have demonstrated a willingness to succeed, e.g., completed all homework assignments and classwork, participated in all classroom activities, and attended class daily.
Students waived into a level against the teacher's recommendation will not be allowed to change levels once the school year begins.
Students can only waive one level of a teacher's recommendation. For example, a student currently in Algebra 1 A/B recommended for Dynamics of Geometry may not be waived into Honors Geometry.
Students who want to double up on required math courses cannot waive a recommendation. For example, a student in Algebra 1 recommended for Geometry cannot double up in Honors Geometry and Honors Algebra 2.
Please note that any change in a student’s schedule is based on course availability and may impact the original schedule.
When a student drops a course, the student's transcript will reflect (W) during the first three weeks of marking period one. After the first three weeks, any schedule change will be noted as WF or WP. District Regulation 2624
