Week 1
Week 1
First week! We really got down to business this first week. We started designing the robot's body and chassis. Firstly, we gathered all the equipment we thought we would need for the first prototype and wired it up without a chassis. The equipment we used is as follows:
Raspberry Pi 4
L298N H-Bridge Motor Controller
Jumper Wires
Generic Yellow Hobby Motors
After setting up our equipment we checked it all worked by using GPIO Zero and running the motors forward at full speed. They did!
That brought the end to our first week!
Week 2
This week we are further designing the chassis and the body. We've been spending lots of time on 2D design and Fusion 360. We have some new members who will be helping designing some of the challenges. The second step in building our first prototype was pairing the xbox controller. For this we followed this tutorial by PiMyLifeUp: https://pimylifeup.com/xbox-controllers-raspberry-pi/
After troubleshooting all the inevitable problems, we discovered that the PyPS4Controller library works with XBox One Controllers. Using the examples on their pypi page we wrote the following code to read the joystick position and convert it to tank drive.
That was the end of week two.

Week 3
This week we just continued prototyping and did some more coding stuff. It was really much of a continuation from last week.
Week 4
First prototype!!! This week was alot more practical that the previous weeks. We did yet more designing of the body. We started laser cutting and got a clear plastic chassis. We will soon enter the testing phase.

Week 5
This week there was soldering irons and music but unfortunately not many pictures. Our supervisor, Mrs. Evans was off this week so there wasn't much drive for much.

Week 7
Mrs Evans Supervised us we continued making the trough. We laser cut a tree which looks amazing and also 3D printed a trough which also looks great.
Week 8
Week 8
We have continued now with the arena and have made a peach tree cut out to be placed inside of the arena. We have been improving our design by soldering efficient wires to the motors.
We are also making different types of apples for the 2nd round.
Week 9
This week we focused on the design of the tree and adding more detail.
