The Australian X-ray Analytical Association (AXAA) and Monash X-ray Platform (MXP) are pleased to be hosting a joint event, the AXAA & MXP Victorian X-ray Symposium. This is an in-person symposium at room G29/G30 on the ground floor in the New Horizons building at Monash University, 20 Research Way, Clayton.
AXAA & MXP cordially invite researchers at all career stages, including students, early career researchers, and established academics, from across the scientific spectrum to present research that employs X ray or neutron techniques as part of their investigative methodology. An exciting opportunity for students and Early Career Researchers to showcase their work in a supportive environment, and stand a chance to win fantastic AXAA prizes!
The symposium will also provide a unique opportunity for researchers who have accessed MXP facilities to showcase their research and outcomes. It is also an opportunity for prospective users to hear about the wide range of techniques and capabilities at MXP, which comprises a suite of advanced instrumentation that covers X-ray Diffraction, Scattering, Computed Tomography, and Photoelectron Spectroscopy. MXP has been evolving rapidly in the last several years with the introduction of high-end versatile instruments, such as the NanoSTAR SAXS machine, the HRXRD Rigaku SmartLab diffractometer, and, most recently with the Zeiss Xradia X-ray Microscopy. MXP continues its growth with new techniques by acquiring instruments with state-of-the-art technology, such as the new high-energy in-situ diffractometer with fast data collection capability for XRD with operando reactions. There will be more news at the upcoming symposium!
In addition to invited speakers and student talks, and posters, this event will include:
The 2025 AXAA AGM (also streamed online)
The Monash X-ray Platform (MXP) tour
A celebration event of new capabilities at the MXP
A round table discussion with researchers from a wide research community for the future MXP technique/capability planning
To submit an abstract
Prepare an abstract with no more than 300 words and submit with an email title: “Victorian X ray Symposium 2025 Abstract Your Name”
For a student or ECR, email the abstract to ausxray@gmail.com to be eligible for AXAA prizes
For all other researchers, email the abstract to MXP@monash.edu
Abstract submission deadline: Monday 20th October 2025
The Victorian X-ray Symposium 2025 is exclusively sponsored by Malvern Panalytical
Malvern Panalytical delivers reliable X-ray analysis from research to production, backed by local application expertise and responsive service. We accelerate research speed and operational efficiency through a focus on data quality, automation, and training partnerships.
Empyrean is the intelligent multipurpose diffractometer that turns one platform into many. Measure powders, thin films, nanomaterials, and solid objects, then extend into scattering and imaging with accessories such as ScatterX for SAXS/WAXS. Hybrid PIXel detectors (PIXcel3D, GaliPIX3D) deliver high data quality, large doors support teaching, and a 4 kW generator with broad non-ambient options. On a single system you can run powder XRD, reflectometry, total scattering, and SAXS/WAXS/GISAXS/XRR workflows, aligned with X-ray scattering solutions that probe structure from sub-angstrom to micron scales.
For compact labs and teaching spaces, Aeris delivers robust, high-quality powder XRD with simple operation and low cost of ownership; the new Aeris High-Capacity Sample Changer automates round-the-clock batches of 60+ samples to raise throughput and free operator time.
