Terms and conditions

DEFINITIONS

• Resident means a current resident of Monash Residential Services (MRS) accommodation.

• Ticket means a ticket that entitles a Resident to participate in an Explore Victoria trip.

TICKET SALES 

• Only Residents are eligible to purchase Tickets and participate in Explore Victoria trips.

• Residents may purchase a maximum of one ticket for one trip to each Explore Victoria destination in the same calendar year. For example, a resident who has previously purchased a ticket for an Explore Phillip Island trip may be ineligible to attend another Explore Phillip Island trip.

• Residents may only purchase Tickets for themselves.

• Residents who purchase a Ticket and do not attend the Explore Victoria trip are ineligible to attend any other Explore Victoria trip in the same calendar year.

• Ticket allocations are limited and the available tickets may be exhausted at any time.

• Residents under the age of 18 must receive approval from their parent or guardian before purchasing a Ticket.

TICKET TRANSFERS, CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS

• All Ticket sales are final and refunds will not be issued for change or mind or non-attendance.

• Explore Victoria trips operate in all weather conditions, and no refunds will be issued to a Residents who chooses not attend an Explore Victoria trip due to weather-related reasons.

• Tickets may be transferred to another Resident by emailing mrs.projects@monash.edu with the full name, Monash ID number and Monash email address of the Resident who will receive the ticket. Ticket transfers must be submitted before 12pm (midday) on the day before the trip.

• Dietary requirement information and catering arrangements cannot be changed after ticket sales close.

• Monash Residential Services reserves the right to cancel, postpone or modify the trip at any time for any reason and amend or vary these terms and conditions at any time, including due to COVID-19 and associated Government orders, directions or regulations. If the trip is cancelled because of an event beyond the reasonable control of Monash University (including a Government order, restriction or directive), Residents may not be eligible to receive a refund.

TRIPS

• Information regarding scheduled departure times, return times, locations and will be communicated to Ticket holders by email before each trip departs.

• The itinerary and inclusions for each Explore Victoria trip are subject to change without notice.

• Return times are estimates and may vary.

• The Monash Residential Services (MRS) Conditions of Residency apply during all Explore Victoria trips.

• Ticket holders who attend an Explore Victoria trip and elect to leave the trip early, or who travel by means other than the transport provided, do so at their own risk and responsibility.

• Ticket holders under the age of 18 are not permitted to leave an Explore Victoria trip early or travel by means other than the transport provided.

• If you choose to leave a trip early, you:

  • must notify the designated Monash Residential Services staff member either in-person or via a phone call of their decision to leave the trip early; and

  • release Monash University (including its employees, affiliates and agents) from all responsibility and liability (including any claims or demands) for you or anything done to or incurred by you (or your property) from the time that you depart the trip; and

  • indemnify Monash University (including its employees, affiliates and agents) for and against any claims, proceedings, expenses, costs (including legal costs), damages suffered or caused by you (including damage to property, personal injury or otherwise) which may be taken or made against Monash University or become payable by Monash University as a result of anything done to or incurred by you (or your property) from the time that you depart the trip; and

  • acknowledge that from the time that you depart the trip, the agreement you have with Monash University or its affiliates ends and, as such any insurance cover provided by Monash University (if applicable), also ends; and

  • acknowledge that from the time you depart the trip, you will no longer be a part of, or able to return to, the trip.

• Ticket holders agree to comply with all Government directions, orders and regulations relevant to attending the trip, which may be in place at the time of the trip and must conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the prevention of the spread of COVID-19. If at the time of the trip you are feeling unwell or are subject to a quarantine or isolation period, you agree not to attend the trip. Please contact your hall Residential Life Staff to advise if this occurs. 

• Ticket holders agree to obey the reasonable verbal and written instructions of Explore Victoria tour operators and any Monash University staff who are acting reasonably in the interests of MRS and the wellbeing of Residents.

• Monash University cannot accept responsibility for any lost items, including items left at venues during Explore Victoria trips or on the provided transport.

• Monash accepts no responsibility and shall not be held legally liable or responsible for any accident, loss, injury or damage to any individual or property whether direct or indirect, whether in contract, tort, negligence or otherwise arising out of or in connection with the trip, either during or after the trip including during transportation.

ACCESSIBILITY

• The accessibility of Explore Victoria trips varies according to each itinerary and form of transport. Any Residents with accessibility requirements are invited to contact the Explore Victoria Team by emailing mrs.projects@monash.edu to confirm their requirements no later than three working days before the trip departure time. Monash Residential Sercces staff will use reasonable efforts to assist with access requirements.

PRIVACY

• Monash University values the privacy of every individual’s personal information and is committed to the protection of that information from unauthorised use and disclosure except where permitted by law. • By purchasing a ticket to an Explore Victoria trip, the Resident authorises MRS to share the Resident's name and dietary requirements with the external tour operator for the purpose of arranging catering for the trip.

• Photographs, video, and audio of Residents may be captured during Explore Victoria trips. Monash Residential Services promotes events to the Monash staff and student community and the public through its website, emails and social media. This involves taking photographs and video footage which may be reproduced, published, or broadcasted for promotional purposes. By participating in an Explore Victoria trip, you consent to Monash Residential Services' use of the content in this way. CURRENCY OF TERMS AND CONDITIONS

• Monash Residential Services (MRS) reserves the right to change the Terms and Conditions associated with these trips at any time.
