Welcome to my site.
Hello, welcome to my website. This is Dan Zhu, currently a Professor at the Department of Econometrics and Business Statistics, Monash University Australia. My main research focus is the study of Monte-Carlo methods, especially their application in Bayesian Econometrics. My work has been published in leading Econometrics, Operations Research and Actuarial journals. For future research direction, I will explore the use of the Monte-Carlo method in more complex models, with application in high-dimensional macro time series analysis.
I am also a Fellow of the Actuarial Institute.
I am a professor and a mother of two boys, and my experience as a parent strongly informs how I think about research, uncertainty, and long-term outcomes. Studying complex systems, risk, and policy has made me attentive to how small early conditions shape future paths; raising children makes those ideas tangible and immediate. Both roles reinforce a commitment to careful reasoning, patience, and responsibility, and to the belief that good research, like good parenting, requires humility, rigor, and an awareness of its lasting consequences.
