Futuristic Animal World

Chia Li Xuan Erela

My Future World is about preserving all life, especially endangered animals like the vaquita and the panda. The two hands (young and adult) will work together to provide a life-sustaining environment, involving high-tech resources to conserve water, plant life thriving in skyscrapers, promoting eco-living in mountains and sky travel. The rainbow and dove show promising future and peace.

The Future World

In this artwork, I combined nature and buildings underwater and added myself on a lotus leaf painting lotus flowers into the underwater world. I want to show that nature is important and should be protected. For our future, we need to take action as soon as possible. My favourite medium is watercolour. I get inspiration from the books I read and movies I watch.

Ever since I can remember my father used to tell me a lot of supernatural experiences and stories. I’ve always wondered if my future would be good or bad. Whether the future world would have highly developed technology or would our future world be destroyed and chaotic, or scientist managed to bring the dinosaurs back to our present?

What if aliens or unknown creatures decided to take over earth? These theories have been circling in my head repeatedly. I love reading books, especially adventure themed ones. The disastrous scenarios I read from those books gave me the idea to add them into this piece of artwork. As for the technology side, it represents a bright future where things are better, and people enjoy their lives. While I was doing a sketch for this, I initially thought of making things dark and pessimistic, but I decided that there is always a brighter future for everyone. Hence, my artwork ‘My Future World’ includes both a bright future and a world with danger and challenges.

In the future world, there will be better technology but we will always care for the environment. Wifi connects us to the world, stronger and faster. I used bright colours for my buildings to represent buildings lighting up our world without the need for street lamps. In the centre of my artwork, I drew a tree to show that we need to save the environment and reduce, reuse and recycle. There will also be improvements in space travel and we can explore space easily.

My Future World

This is an artwork I have made under the topic “My future world”. To think that technology will be beyond this world in the future, I have decided to draw floating platforms that are high up in the sky. There will be floating stairs to lead you up and all around the platform of buildings. I think that there will be colourful buildings that are in all kinds of shapes and sizes, so I drew buildings that are weird in shapes and sizes with lots of vibrant colours. I also drew floating bulbs to shine brightly when night time arrives so people will not go lost in the dark.

Dream of a world with endless possibilities. Imagine the sky being our playground, the feeling of being able to float. The air would be crisp and fresh, and animals would play around freely.

The basic idea of my artwork is to show my impression of a world with endless possibilities. Although such a world may differ from person to person, I believe that a world where everything is possible could become reality.

Since young, I would express my thoughts and feelings through drawing. Occasionally, an odd object would pop out in my sketchbook. It would look something out of ordinary. Being young, I wasn’t able to explain what it was. But as I grew older, I began to embrace such artworks and use them as an inspiration. I came up with my explanations for every drawing and wrote them down on the next page.

My artwork reflects how we can all live together harmoniously.

As Singapore might be flooded by rising sea levels in the future, we will build islands to live on. The cat-like structures are the public housing where we will be living in. Electricity is provided through solar panel-umbrellas and water turbines on each island. We will travel on whale-submarines and mouse-trains. I love animal, therefore I imagine Singapore to be an elegant Animal City.
