Finding a common time to conduct peer lesson observations and post lesson observations feedback can be challenging. It is often limited by time, space and resources, as well as the availability of the observers. By enabling collaboration to occur asynchronously, the above challenges can be overcome.
Video Enhanced Observation (VEO) is an online video sharing and collaboration platform that PESTA has been using since 2017. The platform allows teachers to upload and share videos and tag timelines for discussions to deepen their learning. Having experienced its impact, PESTA introduced VEO to the whole of Academy of Singapore Teachers (AST) in 2022. Teachers appreciate the scheduling flexibility afforded by bringing the collaboration online. In addition, the quality of the collaboration and feedback was enhanced with the involvement of expert others. In 2022, 589 videos were uploaded and 7153 views made. Work is in progress to develop a user-friendly video sharing and collaboration app which will be introduced to all schools soon.
