We would like to provide some important information about using your Chromebooks, focusing on local data and Google Drive.
Limited Storage: Chromebooks have limited local storage. It’s essential to regularly back up important files to avoid running out of space.
Temporary Files: Be aware that files stored locally may not be permanent. For instance, in the event of a system reset or when switching devices, locally stored files can be lost. Always back up any crucial files to the cloud or an external device.
Downloads Folder: The Downloads folder is the default location for saving files locally. However, this folder is also temporary and may be cleared if space is needed or if the device is reset.
Automatic Syncing: Your Chromebook is designed to work seamlessly with Google Drive. Files saved in Google Drive are automatically backed up and can be accessed from any device with internet access.
File Organization: Use Google Drive to organize your files into folders. This makes it easier to find and manage your documents, assignments, and projects.
Offline Access: You can make files available offline in Google Drive. This is useful if you need to work on documents without internet access. Remember to enable offline access for the specific files you need.
Security and Sharing: Google Drive offers robust security features, including file sharing permissions. Be mindful of whom you share your files with and the level of access you grant.
Attention students, it's time to update your security questions to ensure the security of your accounts. As a reminder, our password requirements are strict and must be adhered to for your safety. Your new password must contain a minimum of 8 characters, including at least one number and one capital letter. Additionally, please refrain from using your previous password, BC number, your name, or your date of birth for security reasons. Thank you for your cooperation in maintaining the integrity of our system and safeguarding your personal information.
Please be advised that installing third-party applications or extensions on Chromebooks may result in voiding the warranty for repairs. Any modifications made to the original system configuration, including the addition of unauthorized software, could compromise the integrity of the device and hinder our ability to provide support. To ensure the continued functionality and warranty coverage of your Chromebook, we strongly recommend refraining from installing third-party apps or extensions that are not approved or verified by MOE.
