Google Classroom hosts your "My SIL Journey " logbook. This logbook is used to record all the details of your SIL Project, and has to be submitted at various stages of your SIL journey.
Read the two case studies below to see how Jean and Megan completed their SIL journey for this module.
Jean has always wanted to learn how to dance.
She decides to pick up some simple dance moves as part of this SIL module.
She organises her dance journey across the 5 HBL days:
HBL Day 1 - Jean explores various types of dance by watching a variety of dance videos online and reading up a little bit about the history of various dances. Finally she decides on ballet, and fills in Section 1 of her "My SIL Journey" Google Classroom worksheet.
HBL Day 2 - Jean looks up "ballet for beginners" on YouTube and watches a few videos to find one she is comfortable to try. Once she finds one, she tries out some moves.
HBL Day 3 - Jean continues to practice the ballet moves from the video.
HBL Day 4 - Jean tries out a short beginner's routine and perfects the moves that she has learnt.
HBL Day 5 - Jean creates a short video clip of her dance routine and posts it on the class shareboard. She completes the module by completing Section 2 of her "My SIL Journey" Google Classroom worksheet and sharing her learning on the Shareboard.
Megan has a lot of interests, but does not know what she should focus on for this SIL module.
She gets started on her SIL journey for this module:
HBL Day 1 - Megan looks through the curated resources provided in the "How to Get Started" tab on the home page. She sieves through the different links and decides that she would like to pick up a new language, Japanese, for this SIL module. Once she has made her decision, she fills in Section 1 of her "My SIL Journey" Google Classroom worksheet.
HBL Day 2 - Megan watches the first part of the YouTube tutorial, taking down her own notes in a notebook.
HBL Day 3 - Megan watches the second part of the YouTube tutorial, taking down notes in a notebook.
HBL Day 4 - Megan watches her favourite Japanese anime and tries to pick out words or phrases that she has learnt. She listens to the dialogue and tries to match them with the subtitles to apply her learning.
HBL Day 5 - Megan takes a video clip of herself reciting a short phrase/story/poem in Japanese and posts it on the class shareboard. She completes the module by completing Section 2 of her "My SIL Journey" Google Classroom worksheet and sharing her learning on the Shareboard.
