3 Core ECG Questions
There are 3 core ECG questions that you have been reflecting on throughout your time in secondary school and to help you in making choices - whether it be subjects, post secondary courses or careers.

Discovering Purpose: Who Am I?
Identifying your Values, Interests, Personality and Skills (VIPS) will help you to better understand yourself
Look inwards, and take time to see who you are, and what you want to be.
Purpose
What is your life guided by?
Why do you want to get into a certain course / industry ?
Values
What matters to you? Think about your personal values or use the school values as a guide.
What do you care about in a job? (e.g. challenge, work-life balance, high pay, job security, independence, progression, variety at work, growth, freedom)
Personal characteristics
Interests
What are you interested in or passionate about? You won’t find your passion sitting around. Passion is only discovered through experiences.
What subjects, courses, industries or potential occupations do you wish to explore, based on your interests or passions?
Tip: Be open to new CCAs, subjects and activities
Personality
What are your characteristics or qualities that form your unique self?
Skills and strengths (What helps you to get things done easily and faster?)
What are your skills and strengths?
What are you good at?
How can you use these strengths and skills to contribute in the future?
Tip: Notice what comes naturally to you that you can do easily and better than others — your strengths!
Develop soft skills: self-awareness, problem solving, teamwork, empathy, communication, adaptability,
resilience!
Chart your growth and journey!
Tip:
Document your experiences in a document as you journey through your secondary school years e.g. e-portfolio, and use it to discover and reflect on your interests, strengths, values through your subjects, activities, CCAs, etc.
Set S.M.A.R.T goals and create a series of steps to reach them. Just getting started is a great step! A little bit of action each day goes a long way. When you are just getting started, your mental strength is important. Figure out how you can overcome the resistance of getting started.
Reflect on what you enjoyed, what challenged you, and what to try next.

Be open to opportunities and keep learning about yourself through various experiences even if these experiences may not be part of your original plan, each of the experiences will shape clarity and help you learn and know yourself better. It's a lifelong journey.

Keep exploring, you won't always know what you want until you've tried it. You may not yet be aware of what's possible out there. Think about what will you do, where you would like to contribute in and what is needed in society. It's ok if you do not know your next steps, work consistently hard as you find your path.

Staying Relevant: How Do I Get There?
Having explored "Who am I?" and "Where do I want to go?", the next logical step would be to figure out how to bridge the gap between the two.
It is important for you to know the entry requirements at the various stages leading to your desired end points, set academic and non-academic goals and work towards realising your aspirations!
Practicalities - Based on my results and workload, how realistic is this choice? What are my priorities?
Plan - what action can I take to achieve my goals? What are my next steps?

Being adaptive and resilient means having mindset of growth, curiosity, that can help you bounce back from setbacks and grow and to keep you going when work or life gets hard. It an openness to correct your direction when needed. Sometimes, you may need to take some risks to reach your goals, even if it's uncomfortable. You will learn about yourself and will learn something from each experience.
