CCE Curriculum

Character and Citizenship Education (CCE) is at the heart of education in Singapore. Through CCE, students learn values, social-emotional competencies, and develop character and citizenship dispositions that enable them to grow holistically and learn for life. To develop our students as responsible citizens of character, we have structured, CCE (FTGP), CCE (MTL & EL) lessons which are guided by one syllabus and the CCE Learning Outcomes are realised in different ways. Lessons in CCE (FTGP) and CCE (MTL & EL) use stories, scenarios, songs and games, with pedagogical approaches such as MTV routines and CCE facilitation strategies.

The different approaches in the lessons are designed to reinforce teaching and learning of values, develop social-emotional competencies and nurture citizenship dispositions. Through the respective areas such Cyber Wellness, ECG, STAR, National Education experiences, we aim to grow our students as Learners for Life, Leaders of Character and Contributors with Passion.

CYber wellness

Cyber Wellness (CW) refers to the positive well-being of Internet users. It involves an understanding of online behaviour and awareness of how to protect oneself in cyberspace. The focus of CW is about helping students to become responsible digital learners. When navigating cyberspace, students should demonstrate respect for self and others and practise safe and responsible use. Students should also be a positive peer influence by harnessing technology for collaboration, learning and productivity, as well as advocating positive use of technology for the good of the community.

To reinforce CW messages amongst students, our Peer Support Leaders (PSLs) lead their peers during Cyber Wellness Day through engaging hands-on activities. Through the various learning activities, their

peers were able to gain a more in-depth understanding of issues related to discerning online information. Through this experience, they learnt what it takes to be independent, respectful and effective collaborators.

Education and Career Guidance (ECG)

With the revised Primary School Leaving Examinations (PSLE) scoring system and diversity of secondary education pathways, students need to be guided to make informed school choices while considering their values, strengths, interests and skills.

Together with interactive ECG lessons during our CCE (FTGP) lessons, we also organise the Education and Career Guidance (ECG) Experience Day which aims to expose students to a variety of future job opportunities. Through talks by Secondary School students, mini-career engagements and hands-on booths hosted by professionals, our students gain insights into Secondary School curriculum, CCA programmes, diverse work fields, which foster their curiosity. Our ECG Experience Day provides a comprehensive overview of educational pathways and direct connections with professionals. This immersive experience is designed to equip students with knowledge and curiosity for informed decisions about their future career aspirations.

STAR

In Qifa, our philosophy for Teacher-Student Relationship (TSR) is encapsulated in the acronym STAR. Akin to how travellers find directions and navigate by the stars, our students are looking to our teachers, who are like beacons, throughout their journey in school. We emphasize the importance of dedicating time to one-on-one teacher-student interactions to enhance our understanding of and support for each student.
