Experiential Learning Programme (ELP)

OVERVIEW

As students, we do remember those “ah ha” moments when learning becomes real as we connect the experiences to what we have learnt in class.

The Experiential Learning Programme (ELP) at Pasir Ris Crest Secondary is a 3-day programme of engaging and motivating learning experiences for students in authentic environment not restricted to the confines of the classroom.

Whether it is designing healthy meals based on the restaurant context, or applying Mathematical concepts to solve problems in Tampines Hub to promoting harmony via learning journeys to various racial and religious sites, students can look forward to a range of experiences that support them in making connections to the real world.

The benefits of an Experiential Learning Programme are extensive, ranging from honing the skills of critical thinking, problem solving and decision making in coming up with the fastest chemical-powered car in Science laboratory, harnessing the application of knowledge and skills across different subjects disciplines while immersing in ArtScience, to developing effective communication, social and thinking skills while interacting with tourists along Singapore River.

One important aspect of the ELP is the planning and customisation of three-day learning experiences by teaching teams from various IP and CCE departments at the start of each academic year. This provides opportunity to create student-centered programmes for the unique Crestian experience.
