Punggol Primary is within 1km from our home. It's the school of our 2 lovelies and was our first choice 5 years ago when we were selecting a school for our firstborn. The eldest now is 11 and the other one is 9. Throughout their school lives in the past 5 years, I was involved in the Parents Support Group and we had been on excursions out of school to interesting places with the children every year. These were the most memorable moments that we etched in our memories for both my kids and I. They enjoyed it as much as me and I was glad to be of help to the teachers in any way I can.
In Punggol Primary, many activities were planned in the beginning of the year by teachers to ensure that all members of the school are engaged in one way or another. I am glad to be able to take part in these activities for examples, the Chinese New year celebrations, Total Defence Day, Mothers Day and of course the very entertaining Teachers and Children Day celebrations just to list a few. These are outside classroom time and it certainly enriched our children and exposed them to different kind of cohesion activities in school.
On top of these, the school organised a Dads For Life camp every year for the new primary one children and both of mine attended it during their first year. This camp was especially special to them as it was one of those times where they get to spend quality time with their father alone. Occasionally they will looked back at the photos and reminisced those times with him. I would strongly encourage the new students to join this camp as it will definitely leave a lasting memory for both father and child.
My kids frequently come home and asked me to join the school upcoming activities and it always break my heart if I cannot make it. Thus I am very thankful that the school is able to provide me these opportunities to join them and make these activities or events a success. Without the tremendous effort and support from the teachers and the school, we as parents will not be able to be part of our child's school lives during this important time in their growing up phase. It has indeed been a very grateful journey in the past few years that I was able to share with my children these unforgettable memories in school.
