On 22 January 2026, Hillgrove Secondary School came together for a meaningful and memorable Cohort Bonding Day (CBD). The day was specially organised to strengthen friendships, build positive class culture, and deepen our appreciation for Singapore’s beautiful urban green spaces.
The entire school community played a part in making the event a success. Form Teachers accompanied their classes throughout the day, while our Heads of Department supported activities across the different levels. The Youth Harmony (YH) Team worked hard behind the scenes to plan and coordinate the programme, liaising with NParks and ensuring that everything from transport and meals to assembly and dismissal ran smoothly.
Students participated in a variety of class bonding activities set in outdoor environments. Away from the usual classroom setting, they had the opportunity to interact more freely, work together as a team, and create shared memories with their classmates and teachers. The relaxed outdoor atmosphere encouraged open conversations, laughter, and meaningful connections, while also highlighting the importance of Singapore’s green spaces in supporting healthy living and overall well-being.
The Cohort Bonding Day truly achieved its objectives. Many students shared that they felt closer to their Form Teachers after spending quality time together during the activities. Friendships were strengthened, new connections were formed, and classes grew more united. The enthusiasm and active participation displayed throughout the day reflected the strong spirit and energy of our Hillgrovians.
Beyond bonding, the experience also helped students develop a deeper appreciation for parks and outdoor spaces as places not just for recreation, but for connection, reflection, and growth.
